Lil Wayne pulled out a mix of classics and deep cuts for his early evening set on the Hot 100 stage at the Billboard Hot 100 Festival.
“I ain’t shit without you!” the New Orleans rapper told the teeming crowd as the sun set on Jones Beach. Weezy gave the crowd what they wanted, kicking off with a verse from his hit “A Milli” before heading into “Rich as F–k.” He threaded his set with a handful of singles — “Go DJ,” “Bitches Love Me” — before talking to the females in the crowd.

“Where the ladies at?” he asked. “This part of the show is for you.” He followed with a string of softer songs, including “Lollipop” and “Mrs. Officer” before invoking guest verse Weezy. The Young Money star ran through verses from Chris Brown’s “Loyal” as well as Nicki Minaj’s “Only” and “Truffle Butter.”
Though he held the stage down on his own, Wayne later came out for a guest verse during his girlfriend Christina Milian‘s set just minutes after his performance. “Them other hoes tried,” she said after he left the stage, “but none of them like me.”

The rest of Wayne’s solo set wasn’t without its charms. “Ladies and gentlemen, if you’re f–king with that Free Weezy album, make some noise!” he said, referring to his July 4 mixtape. The project came in the wake of Wayne being blocked by Cash Money and label head Birdman delaying the release of Tha Carter V, which he acknowledged briefly at the start of his set. “Before I get started, I just wanna say, I appreciate every one of you out here,” he said. “I would like to thank you for standing by me for all the bullshit I’ve been going through.”
Before wrapping up his hour-long show, Wayne (now shirtless, of course) left the crowd with three “things you need to know”: “I ain’t shit without God, I ain’t shit without you, and three, I ain’t shit without you.”
