We’ve heard Ryan Gosling sing before in Blue Valentine and his band Dead Man’s Bones and it’s not bad. But that doesn’t mean it’s good enough to join Leon Bridges.

In the new Saturday Night Live promos, Gosling and cast member Taran Killam try out singing Bridges’ “Coming Home” as an impromptu audition to become musical guest Bridge’s backing singers. It doesn’t go so well. But before Bridges can let them down easy, Gosling cuts him off, telling him, “Just let it wash over you.”
In the other clips, Bridges undermine’s Killam flattering Gosling and then dismisses Killam’s impressions from The Wiz. He’s an alright straight man.
