Ellen DeGeneres had a special surprise in store for a 5-year-old Lenny Kravitz fan.
Last time he was on the show, drumming protégé Justin Wilson II impressed the audience by drumming along to Kravitz’s “Fly Away.” On Tuesday (Sept. 24), he decided to take on the icon’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way.”
What Wilson didn’t know was that the rocker was watching the entire performance, and popped out from behind the curtain at the end to surprise him. “Lenny, it’s so good to see you!” the 5-year-old shouted as Kravitz lifted him up for an embrace.
Kravitz then sat down with DeGeneres to chat about the hurricane devastation in the Bahamas, where the rocker has a home. “I have a lot of people on the ground there, it’s like a nuclear bomb went off,” he explained. “What I’m really concerned about are the locals, the heart and soul of the Bahamas.”
The host then gifted Kravitz with $100,000 on behalf of Shutterfly to benefit his help mission down in the tropical island.
