After more than five years of dating, Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff have reportedly called it quits, Billboard has confirmed.
An insider told E! News, which first reported the split, that the actress and Bleachers frontman broke up in December and it was mutual: “Jack and Lena were growing apart and it just made sense for them to end their relationship where it was.”
Bleachers’ most recent hit, “Don’t Take the Money,” was partially inspired by Antonoff’s relationship with Dunham. “Specifically in ‘don’t take the money’ i’m talking about my relationship,” he wrote in an Instagram post back in June. “Verses go through the past, pre is an explosive fight and the chorus is that moment when you hit rock bottom and everything is clear. you know that feeling? when you’ve tried your best to destroy yourself and someone else but it’s too strong to be destroyed?”
A few months later, in October, Dunham wrote an essay about Antonoff for Variety. “It’s safe to say that before Jack my life was full of far fewer sights.”
The couple started dating 2012 and originally met on a blind date.
