To help commemorate the 50th anniversary of this year’s Grammy Awards, organizers have tapped five-time Grammy winner John Legend to perform an in-flight acoustic concert for 50-60 sweepstakes winners.
Details are still being worked out, a Grammy spokesperson tells Billboard.biz, but Legend will perform a 30-minute set aboard a Delta Air Lines, Grammy-branded Boeing 757. The flight will leave New York on Feb. 7 en route to Los Angeles. This year’s Grammy Awards will be broadcast Feb. 10 from L.A.’s Staples Center on CBS.
Contestants can enter the sweepstakes by visiting the Web sites of participating CBS stations and affiliates, which include such cities as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Baltimore and Denver.
Along with the in-flight performance, grand prize winners will receive paid airfare, hotel accommodations, a $200 gift card and two tickets to the Grammys.
Meanwhile, as part of the new deal between the Recording Academy and Delta, the airline company will keep the Grammy-branded Boeing 757, which features a gramophone logo, in its fleet for the next three years, according to a Grammy spokesperson.
