It has been close to four years since Lee Ann Womack has released new music, and her fans — which includes such superstars as George Strait and Alan Jackson — are getting just a little bit restless.
Finally, there appears to be some encouraging news in the Womack department. The singer has been in the studio with husband / producer Frank Liddell working on material for a new album. Though the music has been heavily guarded, the seven-time CMA winner will soon be previewing some of her new songs.

On May 26, the singer will make an appearance at the IP Resort and Casino in Biloxi, and plans are for her to unveil some of the new material at the show. A large number of members of the Lee Ann Womack Country Music Appreciation Society & Social Club will be in attendance, and it seemed the perfect time for Womack to give her fans a “taste” of the music she’s been working on. In true “music before all fashion,” the woman who’s given the world “I May Hate Myself In The Morning,” “A Little Past Little Rock” and “I Hope You Dance” will treat the fan club members to some of the songs from the project tentatively titled “The Way I’m Living” during a very special performance.
“I’ve been living with this music now for months, and I’m dying to let the fans hear some,” confesses Womack, who has recorded with George Strait, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell and Buddy Miller. “It’s funny. Frank and I just never seemed to really get around to working together, beyond those few tracks on I Hope You Dance… and we both love music so much in so many ways, we really challenged each other in the best way.”
When asked about working with her husband — also the producer of Miranda Lambert and Kellie Pickler, among others, Womack said, “He knows my voice. He understands the things I love. He knows where I want to go in ways I can’t even say. And when we got started — from having Randy Scruggs help me work up the songs on acoustic guitar — it was just a whole different process, that just kept building. We’ve got real country songs; we’ve got some Texas songs, a bit of gospel, some surprises. I’m fired up — and I think the fans will be, too.”
The singer, who celebrates fifteen years as a industry favorite this year said, “It’s hard when you wanna get it right,” she muses. “Because there are so many choices you can make… and there are a lot of good ones you make. But the right ones? Well, that’s tricky. I think we’ve got it! I am so excited about the music… It’s hard not playing it out, but I also want people to have a chance to experience all these songs as a whole.”
Womack has quite the reputation to live up to. Songs like “Never Again, Again” and “Ashes By Now” have made her a critical and commercial favorite, and her 2005 top ten hit “I May Hate Myself In The Morning” won the CMA’s Single of the Year.
