Led Zeppelin is re-releasing its classic albums Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy on Oct. 27, and rarities from these sets are beginning to trickle out. Earlier this month, we shared an alternate version of the IV cut “Black Dog” and now a sampling of Houses of the Holy’s deluxe edition is here.
Check out an alternate version of the lovely “The Rain Song” below:
Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, who remastered the albums, spoke about this new version in a statement:
“The Rain Song” is the sort of piece of music that Led Zeppelin could approach and do so successfully and so masterfully. This whole genre of the sensitivity, where it can sort of caress you, it’s something that I’ve always been very proud of. The companion disc version is really a good blend of everything that’s actually being played.
Led Zeppelin Reissuing 2 More Albums This Fall
The reissues of 1971’s Led Zeppelin IV and 1973’s Houses of the Holy drop Oct. 27 via Atlantic/Swan Song. Each reissue will contain several bonus tracks (on both CD and vinyl, regular and deluxe). Both will be included in a box set, which also contains a coffee table book and a print of the cover art.
