Robbie Lear has been named marketing director for EMI Mexico. Lear, an industry veteran who was formerly senior VP of marketing and A&R for Universal Music Mexico, will remain in Mexico, reporting to Camilo Lara, chairman EMI Music Mexico and head of A&R Latin America.
At Universal, Lear oversaw campaigns in Mexico for artists like Alejandro Fernandez and Enrique Iglesias and for mainstream acts like Black Eyed Peas and Bon Jovi.
Prior to his Mexico post, Lear was in charge of Latin Artists’ marketing at Universal Music Latin America, developing international strategies for Juanes and David Bibal, among others. Lear also headed indie label Discos Manicomio between 1996 and 2000. In his new post, Lear will also look for partnerships and associations with brands.
