Lauren Schneider was promoted to vice president, media and artist relations at Island Def Jam today, the company announced. She will be reporting to executive vice president, media and artist relations Laura Swanson in her new position.

Schneider has long played a role in IDJ’s media and artist relations department, working with such artists as The Killers, Gaslight Anthem, Neon Trees, Snow Patrol, and Taio Cruz, among others. In her expanded role at the company, she will be responsible for publicity for many of IDJ’s artists and projects, bringing in new technologies to help direct those publicity pushes, creating special events to coincide with the campaigns, and maintaining print and broadcast media contacts for the company.

“Lauren lives, breathes and loves music, and it shows with her close relationships with the artists and her creative campaigns,” said Swanson in a statement. “She is extremely passionate and quite possibly one of the most hilarious people I know. It’s a pleasure working with Lauren every day and I’m thrilled our collaboration will continue for years to come.”
Schneider received a communications degree from SUNY Oswego in Upstate New York, and first worked at VH1’s Save the Music before joining Island Def Jam.
