Shakira, Juanes, Maná and Juan Luis Guerra are part of an all-star lineup of Latin acts set to perform free concerts May 17 on behalf of impoverished children in Latin America.
The ALAS (América Latina en Acción Solidaria) organization is putting on simultaneous concerts in Mexico City and Buenos Aires to raise support for early childhood development programs. The concerts are not fundraisers per se but are intended to organize a movement of fans, governments and corporations to get behind health and education programs for poor children in the region.
Alejandro Sanz, Aleks Syntek, Babasónicos, Calle 13, Chayanne, David Bisbal, Diego Torres, Fito Páez, Gustavo Cerati, Jorge Drexler, Los Tigres del Norte, Miguel Bosé, Paulina Rubio, Ricardo Montaner, Ricky Martin and Timbiriche are also participating in the concert.
Mexico’s Televisa and Argentina’s Canal 13 will provide satellite feeds. Venue locations and additional broadcast partners are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
