Based on the popularity of TV reality shows “Cantando por un Sueño” (Singing For A Dream) and “Bailando por un Sueño” (Dancing For A Dream), event promotion company Roptus is launching the “Cantando y Bailando por un Sueño” (Singing and Dancing for a Dream) tour in the U.S.
The 20-stop trek will incorporate local dance competitions and will kick off July 5 in Anaheim, Calif., wrapping with two grand finales August 11 and 12 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The tour will feature artists and judges from “Bailando por un Sueño” — a concept similar to “Dancing with the Stars” — and “Cantando por un Sueño.” Both shows enjoyed huge ratings success last year in Mexico, where they were produced, and here in the United States, where they aired on the Univision network up until a few months ago. Roptus CEO Guillermo Rosas says interest for the tour will be fueled by Univision’s current reality show, “Bailando por la Boda de tus Sueños” (Dancing for the Wedding of Your Dreams).
Three finalists will be selected from each of the tour’s local “Cantando” and “Bailando” competitions, for every stop. A total of 19 contestants for each segment will compete in the grand finale. The winner of “Cantando,” chosen by judges and fans, gets a record deal.
