The Latin Recording Academy and digital media management company YANGAROO Inc. have partnered up in a multi-year deal that will digitize the Latin Grammy Awards submissions process, according to officials.
The agreement allows the academy’s international membership to listen to recordings digitally and connect U.S.- and international-based music being considered for a Latin Grammy. The digital system, known as YANGAROO Awards, allows the voting membership to stream nominated music online.
Product is first submitted before it’s distributed to members of the academy domestically and throughout 35 countries around the globe.
YANGAROO, which is based in Toronto, connects artists, judges, event organizers, auditors and guides users through several areas including awards show management procedures, the nominations process, committee reviews, voting, results tabulation and auditing.
“We are confident that our members, internationally based, will find this digital technology helpful and efficient as they go through the awards process.” said Gabriel Abaroa, president/CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, in a prepared statement.
Cliff Hunt, vice chairman and COO of YANGAROO, said that he’s looking forward to working with the academy.
“The Latin music community is large, vibrant, and growing, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.” Hunt said, in a prepared statement.
The Latin Grammy’s English-language counterpart the Grammy Awards is also using a similar system. YANGAROO also has other clients including the MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards and the JUNO Awards.
