Ricky Martin, Alexandre Pires and Thalía are confirmed to perform at the fourth annual Latin Grammy Awards. The Sept. 3 event at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami will be broadcast live on CBS.
For his performance, Pires will be joined by inaugural “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson. Others slated to entertain are rock act Bacilos and rap/metal band Molotov. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
As previously reported, producer/songwriter Sergio George leads the field with six Latin Grammy nominations. Among his notices are record of the year, song of the year and best tropical song for “Mi Premer Millón” by Bacilos and album of the year for the group’s “Caraluna.”
Singer/songwriter Juanes and producer Gustavo Santaolalla follow with five nominations each.
In other news, Universal Music International will release three compilation albums of this year’s Latin Grammy nominees, Billboard Bulletin reports. Each album will focus on a specific genre of Latin music. One will have pop, rock and tropical acts; another will feature regional Mexican; and the third will spotlight Brazilian nominees.
Universal Music Latino will release the pop and regional Mexican albums in the U.S.; the third will be on Universal Music Brazil. All three CDs are due Aug. 26.
