David Letterman will be leaving America’s TV screens soon, but he’s not going quietly.
The talk show legend has a crammed schedule of artists lined-up for his celebratory final few weeks on air. It’s a long list that includes tonight’s musical guests the Waterboys. The Dublin-based band made their network television debut overnight with a performance of “The Girl Who Slept For Scotland,” a new song which appears on the veteran act’s first album original material in eight years, Modern Blues.
The Waterboys broke through in 1988 with Fisherman’s Blues, an album that set frontman Mike Scott and his bandmates on a path that mixed rock ‘n’ roll with the folk music of Scotland and Ireland, with a bit of American country thrown in. They’re best remembered for 1985’s “The Whole of the Moon.”

Fellow Brit George Ezra briefly got the better of the talk show host in an acoustic performance of Blame It On Me for Corden’s Late Late Show.
