The family of Christina Grimmie, who was fatally shot during a meet and greet at a concert in Orlando in June 2016, has released a statement following the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas Sunday night (Oct. 1).
The Grimmies joined the many voices mourning the lives lost — at press time, 59 deaths and 525 injuries have been reported — but from the perspective of a family who has shared the same tragedy. They posted on the late singer’s Twitter account Monday evening.
“We are beyond devastated to hear of last night’s tragedy in Las Vegas,” Christina’s family wrote. “Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and the family and friends of those who were taken last night. We truly understand what these families are experiencing and hope to help in some way.”
The Grimmie family signed their note with the Christina Grimmie Foundation, which provides support to those suffering from the devestating effects of gun violence. See the tweet below.
