Lana Del Rey’s latest mysterious, sun-stroked music video is for her new single “West Coast,” which precedes her hotly anticipated sophomore album “Ultraviolence.” The clip, released on Wednesday (May 7), is a whole lot of Lana Being Lana, offering up artful shots of California, bad boys and long drags from endless cigarettes.
“I can see my sweet boy swayin’,” Del Rey croons at the end of the video, as she gently brushes her hair off of her shoulders in the middle of flames. Earlier, the singer is shown clinging to a long-haired gentleman on the beach, and then sitting alongside an older fellow as a car barrels forward in slow motion. Will she burn her past and head towards the west coast in search of stardom? In many respects, she’s already there.

Del Rey debuted “West Coast” during a performance at Coachella, and the song shot to No. 17 on the Hot 100 chart upon its release. “Ultraviolence” has yet to receive a release date, while the singer’s first album, “Born To Die,” recently crossed 1 million copies sold in the United States.
