Lana Del Rey fans have found a new paradise: the music video for “Ride,” the lead single from the “Paradise Edition” of her debut album “Born To Die.” It clocks in at over 10 minutes and features American flags, cigarette drags, humping against pinball machines and of course, slow-motion images of LDR cruising toward a sunset.
Del Rey has a trio of lovers in her “Ride” video, enjoying each man’s company as she lives on the road, with nothing tying her down. In one scene she rides on the back of her lover’s motorcycle, in another she’s smoking outside a gas station, and then she takes the stage before a cheering crowd.
The video gets more wild as time goes on, with Lana donning a feathered headdress and waving around a gun while fire billows around her. “I’m f-cking crazy, but I am free,” LDR narrates as the video closes with the image of her swinging on an endless tire swing in the middle of the desert.
Produced by Rick Rubin, “Ride” was released last month to preview “Born To Die – The Paradise Edition,” which will be released on Nov. 13. The video premiered at a screening in Santa Monica, Calif. on Wednesday night, at which director Anthony Mandler and Del Rey fielded questions about the epic clip.
The deluxe album will feature eight new songs, including “American,” “Cola” and “Yayo.” Released in January, “Born To Die” clocks in at No. 76 in its 36th week on the Billboard 200 chart.
