UPDATE: Marilyn Manson‘s camp reached out to Billboard to deny he had anything to do with the Lana Del Rey footage that briefly popped up online. “Manson did not direct this, shoot it, nor was it for a Marilyn Manson video or outtake footage made by him or to be used by him with his music,” Manson’s rep said.
Original Post: Brutal, disturbing footage form a scrapped music video for Marilyn Manson starring Lana Del Rey has hit the Internet [h/t Pitchfork] after sitting unused for more than two years.
Resembling a David Lynch movie in tone and content, the clip shows a man sexually assaulting Del Rey within the first minute and a half.
In the clip, a terrified Lana Del Rey — wearing a t-shirt and underpants — is pushed face-first into bed by a man. We see the two struggling, with his hand ending up in her mouth and her nails digging into his arm. The scene then cuts forward, showing the man walking away from the bed, leaving Del Rey with tears streaming down her face.
It’s an unpleasant, harrowing scene that might help explain why this video — directed by Hostel mastermind Eli Roth — remained unreleased.
In an interview with Larry King last year, Roth explained why the Manson video never came out: “The footage is so sick, it’s been locked in a vault for over a year. But Manson is a friend — he came to my Passover Seder.”
The footage has since been removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim. Billboard reached out to Manson’s camp for comment on why the video was never released in the first place.
