Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe is prepping the release of his upcoming memoir, which has been picked up by Da Capo Press and scheduled to hit bookstore shelves in the spring of 2014.
Blythe made headlines the world over last June when he was arrested, charged and remanded with manslaughter by authorities of the Czech Republic in connection to the falling death of a fan during the metal band’s concert at a club in Prague on May 24, 2010.

The 42-year-old singer was ultimately acquitted of Daniel Nosek’s death in March (and upheld by the Prague High Court on June 5th). However, having circumstantially played a role in the 19-year-old’s passing after pushing him off the stage during that May 24 concert left Blythe with a heart heavy enough to have felt the need to put his story out there on paper. Eschewing the practice of teaming with a ghostwriter or co-author, the Richmond, Virginia native promises this yet-untitled tome will reveal the absolute truth behind the ordeal in his own words.
“While I’ve dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic,” Blythe proclaimed in a prepared statement in regard to the book deal. “Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told,” states Blythe. “I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it.”
Da Capo Press — no stranger to publishing the memoirs of metal luminaries with recent titles from the likes of Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, former Pantera bassist Rex Brown and Ministry’s Al Jourgensen on its backlist — is unsurprisingly enthusiastic about the prospect of putting out this most anticipated tell-all from one of the most respected voices in American heavy metal today.
“I knew that Randy was a master vocalist and lyricist but it turns out he is a vivid and visceral prose writer as well,” adds Da Capo Press Executive Editor Ben Schafer. “Regarding his arrest and trial in the Czech Republic, Randy handled a frightening and heartbreaking situation with courage, grace, and humility.”
Lamb of God, meanwhile, are preparing to return overseas for a series of shows in Europe and Australia in August and September, including performances at such notable summer festivals as Spain’s Resurrection Fest, the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany and Belgium’s Pukkelpop 2013.
The group intends to return to the studio and begin recording their eighth studio album in 2014.
