Lady Sovereign, Pinback, Rogue Wave, Band Of Horses and Mates Of State are among the artists contributing exclusive covers to “OC Mix 6: Covering Our Tracks,” due Dec. 5 via Warner Bros. The songs will be heard throughout the fourth season of the Fox drama “The OC,” which premieres Nov. 2.
Covers have been a prominent element of earlier “OC” soundtracks, particularly Matt Pond PA’s version of Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova,” but this time around, the album is covers-only. Lady Sovereign tackles the Sex Pistols’ “Pretty Vacant,” while Rogue Wave covers the Pixies’ “Debaser” and Pinback puts its stamp on Black Flag’s “Wasted.”
Also featured is Mates Of State’s version of Phantom Planet’s “California,” which serves as the show’s theme song.
