Lady Gaga took an optimistic approach with her song selection to kick off Saturday night’s (April 18) One World: Together at Home primetime benefit concert, performing Charlie Chaplin’s uplifting classic “Smile” while sitting at her keyboard, surrounded by candles.
She put a jangly spin on the standard and emphasized the all-too-appropriate lyrics: “Smile, though your heart is aching/ Smile even though it’s breaking/ When there are clouds in the sky/ You’ll get by.”
The pop singer/songwriter curated the night’s all-star lineup, which also includes Taylor Swift, John Legend, Paul McCartney and more.
The World Health Organization and Global Citizen teamed up for their massive worldwide special to support and applaud healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.
