After days of around-the-clock vote counting, Democratic nominee Joe Biden surpassed incumbent Donald Trump in the state of Georgia, leading at the time of publication by less than 2,000 votes.
With just about 8,000 votes and about 8,900 overseas and military ballots left to count, according to The Washington Post, American are feeling hopeful about a Biden win in Georgia, which would grant him 16 crucial electoral college votes.
Following the news of the Peach State turning blue, celebrities took to social media in celebration, and thanking former Georgia state representative Stacey Abrams and a number of voter and civil rights activists for inspiring positive change in the state’s election process.
