Lady Gaga’s dogwalker is on the road to recovery, more than a month after he was viciously attacked on the street in Los Angeles.
Ryan Fischer was shot and left for dead by two suspects, who stole the French bulldogs he was walking, pets that belonged to Gaga.
The violent dognapping incident on Feb. 24 made international headlines, and blew up when Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the safe return of her pooches.
In a new social media post, Fischer recounts his long recovery, from “bleeding out on a sidewalk,” to “overly-active ICU patient,” and “just waiting for my lung to heal so I could go home.”
Fischer endured a setback when, he explains, doctors identified a collapsed lung which required immediate surgery, and a partial removal.
In a video accompanying the post, Fischer can be seen preparing for his journey out into the wider world, carefully and slowly dressing himself while removing his gown, soundtracked by Carly Simon’s “Coming Around Again.”
For a brief moment, we get a glimpse at the injuries he sustained.
“Along with accepting the news that I was about to be readmitted,” he admits, “several nurses and doctors told me how they had been in the room when I came in with my gunshot. How they didn’t think I was going to make it.”
Fischer did make it, he’s out of hospital, and the missing dogs were recovered unharmed after a woman brought them to the LAPD’s Olympic Community Police Station.
Police have yet to identify any suspects.
