In a recent conversation with her fans on her LittleMonsters website, Lady Gaga hit on topics such as rumors of “ARTPOP” losing Interscope $25 million and causing layoffs at the label, trusting those around her and much more.
Around the release of “ARTPOP,” an Examiner article, which has since disappeared, claimed that Gaga’s new album had sold well below what Interscope had hoped, setting into motion a chain reaction that ended in a multi-million dollar loss and layoffs at the label. However, in a post on the website, the pop star said there was “no truth to many of your comments, including the 25 million dollars deficit.”

In fact, according to Gaga, there’s no ill will at Interscope at all despite selling 258,000 copies of “ARTPOP” in its first week out — tepid numbers compared to her past releases. “I have lost love [sic] ones to the greed of money,” she wrote. “It is not interscope. They in fact love me very much and will see ‘ARTPOP’ to the end.”
As Popcrush notes, her comments hint at possible betrayal by those formerly close to her. “My heart breaks from the people I have trusted and loved who I’ve worked so closely with, who have used me, lied to me, worked me into the ground for the personal gain,” the singer wrote. “When I woke up in the hospital after my surgery there were many people that were not there. My health did not matter. I did not matter unless I could perform. This is a very hard lesson.”

Since the release of “ARTPOP,” Gaga has lashed out at detractors who, she says, send an “overflow of hate” her way. “I put so much love into my music, into my shows, I make it all for you. I’ll never understand the overflow of hate sent my way,” she wrote on Twitter last November. “Or maybe thats what entertainment is now. It’s more fun to point & laugh than appreciate the artist. I’ll keep rehearsing my steps ?#showbiz.”
The singer also lost longtime manager Troy Carter, with whom she split two months ago.
