Last week, Billboard premiered Tiesto’s propulsive new track “Take Me,” which featured vocals from Los Angeles singer-songwriter Kyler England. Aside from the winning EDM collaboration, England has worked with another star in a very different medium — Kiernan Shipka, who plays Sally Draper on “Mad Men” — on the music video for her solo track “We Rise Like Smoke,” launching exclusively on Billboard.com.
Whereas “Take Me” finds England guesting on a driving, relentless dance track, “We Rise Like Smoke” offers quiet grace in the form of gently inspiring pop-rock. In the music video directed by Michael Alan Hoy, Shipka exerts energy trying to fashion a paper plane that soars, and when she finally does — with a piece of paper cut into a heart — the results are resoundingly adorable.
Aside from her solo work, England makes up one-quarter of the rock group the Rescues, which has released three albums since 2008. “Electric Hum,” England’s most recent solo album which features “We Rise Like Smoke,” was released in late 2011.
With “Take Me” being touted as a daring new single and a “Mad Men” regular in her latest clip, England is enjoying a high-profile month. Share your thoughts on the “We Rise Like Smoke” video in the comments section.
