The dance music world was shaken by the tragic and sudden suicide of 28-year-old producer Avicii earlier this year. The Swedish hitmaker behind “Levels,” “Wake Me Up” and other modern classics died in April, and the community has since started tough and honest discussions about mental and physical health in what can be a demanding and uncaring industry.
Kygo was particularly vocal about Avicii’s place as his greatest idol and inspiration. Now, in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Norwegian producer has joined with “Tomorrow Needs You,” a campaign from To Write Love On Her Arms to raise funds and awareness for those who need help.
“I think it’s time mental health is taken seriously,” Kygo wrote in a post on Instagram. He appears in the attached picture wearing a “Tomorrow Needs You” T-shirt. “I’ve decided to donate $30,000 to TWLOHA’s campaign. If you want to help as well, go to the link in my bio to donate. 100% of your donation will go toward connecting people to the help they need and deserve!”
Those interested in joining the “Tomorrow Needs You” campaign can learn more by visiting TWLOHA online. The site will post a new piece of content around the campaign every day this week. You can check out Kygo’s full post below.
