Pete Tong isn’t the only electronic producer with a classical mind.
Norway’s Kygo got his musical education on the ivory keys, and he started as a classical composer before early Avicii inspired him to pick up electronic instruments. There’s always a part of his brain that thinks in orchestral sound, and he gives fans a peek into that beautiful, unheard universe with a moving take on his hit “Stargazing.”
Collaborative vocalist Justin Jesso is joined by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. The pared-down intro highlights the song’s lyrics, and the string arrangement gives new emotional dimension to the familiar fan favorite. The build is slow and steady. Kygo definitely has a deft hand for dynamics.
This isn’t the only good news for Kygo fans. The “Stargazing” clip comes on the heels of a promise to release full film footage of the Kids in Love producer’s famous, star-studded performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Set for release Dec. 12, Live at the Hollywood Bowl captures performances alongside special guests Conrad Sewell, G-Eazy, James Hersey, Kodaline, Labrinth, Parson James, Seal, Sergio Flores and Will Heard.
