Kygo has collaborated with some serious heavy hitters. He helped U2 on its 2017 single “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” OneRepublic costarred on his Kids in Love track “Stranger Things,” and he recently dropped a music video for stand-alone Miguel ballad “Remind Me To Forget.”
He even recently gave Ariana Grande the space to debut her latest single “No Tears Left To Cry,” an emotional homage to the victims of the suicide bombing attack on her concert in Manchester, England, in 2017, and when the Norwegian producer hit the red carpet Sunday for the Billboard Music Awards, we had to ask him about that magic moment.
“My manager has been talking to her manager for a while,” Kygo says in the video clip, above. “We wanted to do something together, and it was just perfect timing, because she released that song the night before I was playing.” Grande apparently loved the idea of coming out to sing Marvin Gaye‘s lyrics during his remix of “Sexual Healing,” and she followed it with the official performance debut of “No Tears Left to Cry.”
Grande isn’t the only popstar Kygo’s been eyeing.
“Ed Sheeran has always been on the top of my list, so maybe one day,” he says. “He’s a hard man to get a hold of. He’s like changing his email every week. He’s kind of an impossible man to get a hold of but I talked to him a couple weeks ago, months ago about getting in the studio. It’s just tough to find the time. He’s a busy man.”
Our fingers are crossed for you, Kygo.
