Ahead of the release of her fourth studio album, Japamyu, at the end of the month, J-pop singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu dropped her latest single, “Kizunami,” digitally Friday (Sept. 7).
The song is the opener for the upcoming animated feature film Monster Strike The Movie: Sora No Kanata. The movie features popular Japanese actors Masataka Kubota and Alice Hirose voicing the leading roles, supported by an extraordinary cast of star voice actors, including Koichi Yamadera, Yoshimasa Hosoya and Aoi Yuuki.
Music producer Yasutaka Nakata wrote “Kizunami” specifically for the film. Based on the theme of strong ties between friends, Kyary’s sweet voice conveys a message of support over an upbeat, Asian-flavored track.
A new trailer for the movie featuring the song has also been released. The movie will hit Japanese theaters Oct. 5.
Kyary also shared the full track list of her new album. Her highly anticipated first studio album in four years features 10 songs, including singles “Sai & Co,” “Harajuku Iyahoi,” “Kimi No Mikata” and “Kizunami,” a cover of CAPSULE’s “Koi No Hana,” and new tracks with creative, charmingly Kyary-like titles that are bound to deliver what fans have been waiting for and more.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s new album, Japamyu, will go on sale Sept. 26.
