After months of waiting, Nirvana diehards finally know when they’re going to get to hear the Kurt Cobain rarities housed on the soundtrack to the Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck.
Director Brett Morgen told AwardsLine, “It will come out November 6th, the same day as the DVD release.”

No official track listing has surfaced, though some details of the album’s contents have trickled out. Morgen announced the soundtrack will include all the previously unreleased music featured in the film, plus a dozen additional tracks. This includes “audio montages that Kurt Cobain created” and recordings of the artist talking in between the musical tracks, including “a sketch comedy routine featuring Kurt voicing all of the characters.”

Morgen also dished that there will be a “a mind-blowing 12-minute acoustic Cobain unheard track” and a song featuring a Cobain falsetto, which he spoke about exclusively to Billboard.
Including never-before-seen archival footage assembled by Morgen, the film was made in cooperation with Cobain’s widow Courtney Love and daughter Frances Bean Cobain, who served as a co-executive producer.
All in all, Morgen culled the sounds from 107 cassette tapes, which he said contained approximately 30 to 50 demos that were mined from some 200 hours of audio.
The film hit HBO on May 4, following a limited release in theaters.
