Performing arts DVD distributor Kultur has signed two new deals with Cascade Medien and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame & Museum.
Through its pact with Cascade, Kultur will release at least 50 DVDs focusing on classical performances from Europe. The titles will include operas, operettas and classical music concerts featuring conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Paavro Jarvi and Wolfgang Sawallisch. Exact release dates have not yet been set.
Kultur’s first releases from the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, coming Sept. 27, include “The Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Volume 1,” “Volume 2” and “Volume 3.” Each title will feature performances from the Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremonies. The first titles stem from 2001 and feature inductees such as the Mamas & The Papas, the Flamingos and the 5th Dimension.
Each Vocal Group package will also include a CD and will be priced at $19.99 each.
In other Kultur news, the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year at a Sept. 19 event at New York’s Friar’s Club. The company will present the first ever Kultur Lifetime Achievement award to Mikhail Baryshnikov.
