While Los Angeles station KROQ’s 2002 Inland Invasion concert was defiantly punk-themed, this year’s third annual event will be a largely ’80s affair. Set for Sept. 20 at the Glen Helen Hyundai Pavilion in Devore, Calif., Inland Invasion III will play host to a dozen groups whose appeal ran highest in that decade, spiced with a smattering of current acts.
The Cure, Duran Duran, Violent Femmes, Echo & the Bunnymen and the Psychedelic Furs will headline the event, joined by Hot Hot Heat, Dashboard Confessional, Bow Wow Wow, Interpol, General Public, Fountains Of Wayne, Soft Cell, Berlin and Dramarama.
Tickets for Inland Invasion III go on sale Saturday (Aug. 23) at 10 a.m. PT, with many to be given away by KROQ throughout the next month.
The Sex Pistols, the Buzzcocks, X, the Circle Jerks and Blink-182 headlined last year’s gathering, while Incubus, Weezer, Social Distortion, the Offspring, and Pennywise played the inaugural show in 2001.
