The International Bluegrass Music Assn. (IBMA) has tapped Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs to host the 16th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Show October 27 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. This marks Krauss’ third time at the podium. She co-hosted last year with Dan Tyminski. The awards show is the centerpiece of the IBMA’s annual World of Bluegrass convention October 24-30, which is relocating from Louisville, Ky. to Nashville this year.
Krauss has picked up her share of IBMA honors during the course of her career, netting the female vocalist of the year accolade four times. She’s also a two-time IBMA Entertainer of the Year and three-time IBMA Album of the Year winner with Union Station. Krauss is also the most awarded female artist in Grammy history with 17 statuettes to her credit. Skaggs has collected 10 Grammy awards and has won the IBMA instrumental group of the year honor six times with his band, Kentucky Thunder.
The IBMA awards will be recorded live and available for radio broadcast in more than 300 U.S. markets and 14 foreign networks. The evening will include performances from bluegrass music’s top acts as well as the the announcement of award winners in 17 categories, and two inductions into the Bluegrass Hall of Honor.
