Alison Krauss + Union Station, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, Blue Highway and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver each accumulated multiple nominations for the 16th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, to be held Oct. 27 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Krauss + Union Station earned 14 nominations including nods for entertainer of the year, instrumental group, vocal group and song of the year. Vincent and her band claimed eight nominations, among them entertainer, vocal group and female vocalist. Both Blue Highway and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver earned seven nominations each.
Eight-time entertainers of the year the Del McCoury Band received six nominations. Reigning male vocalist Larry Sparks netted five nominations as did Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Paul Williams and Mountain Heart.
The awards are voted on by the members of the International Bluegrass Music Assn. and are the centerpiece of the organization’s annual World of Bluegrass gathering. Traditionally held in Louisville, Ky., the event moves to Nashville this year Oct. 24-30. Krauss and Skaggs will host this year’s awards show.
