Diana Krall will deliver the sounds of the season with “Christmas Songs, Featuring the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra,” due Nov. 1 from Verve Records. The jazz singer/pianist co-produced the 12-track set of holiday favorites with longtime producer Tommy LiPuma (Al Jarreau, Miles Davis).
In addition to the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra, Krall is accompanied by bassists John Clayton and Bob Hurst, guitarist Anthony Wilson and drummer Jeff Hamilton. Among the selections are new recordings of such standards as “Let It Snow,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Jingle Bells.”
Previously released takes of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Christmas Time Is Here” with a different band that included guitarist Russell Malone are also featured.
Krall spent about a year on the road supporting the 2004 release “The Girl in the Other Room,” and according to her official Web site, plans on “taking some well deserved time off.”
