After years of success, Korn is still chugging along with “The Paradigm Shift,” the 11th studio album from the rockers that dropped earlier this month. This band will participate in the new season of Guitar Center’s Guitar Center Sessions, and Billboard has an exclusive premiere of the band’s performance of “Got the Life.”
Casual and diehard fans alike should have no problem identifying the opening riff of “Got the Life,” the second single from the band’s “Follow the Leader.” The song peaked at No. 15 on the Mainstream Rock chart upon its 1998 release and has gone on to become regarded as one of the nu-metal act’s classic songs.
The album hit No. 1 in America and also spawned “Freak on a Leash,” which hit No. 6 on the Alternative Songs chart and has also gone down as a Korn standard.
“The Paradigm Shift” opened at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 upon its release, selling 46,000 copies in its first week. The album marks the return of guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, who left the band in 2005 after becoming a born-again Christian.
Korn’s Guitar Center Sessions appearance kicks of the seventh season of the series. “We’re thrilled to kick off our seventh season with a band as iconic as Korn,” Nic Hartcourt, the show’s host, said. “With 60 episodes in the bag, the show continues to push the boundaries of music television while inspiring musicians and non-musicians alike to pick up an instrument and make music.”
Encore performances from the sessions have begun airing on AXS TV Mondays at 9 p.m.
