Korn — which has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of its self-titled debut album by performing it in its entirety on tour — today (July 21) announced a month-long closing run of dates at intimate venues this coming October. Korn, the Ross Robinson-produced set that put the Bakersfield, Calif., band on the map in May 1994, contains such fan favorites as “Blind,” “Shoots and Ladders” and “Divine.”
A limited number of tickets and early-entry packages will be available for sale at Korn.com on July 22 at 10 a.m. PT. Regular tickets will go on sale July 24 at 10 a.m. in most markets. According to a press statement, fans will be able to request what songs Korn will play during its encore.
Suicide Silence and Islander will support the tour as special guests. It begins Oct. 1 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and includes stops at New York’s Irving Plaza (Oct. 5), Miami’s Fillmore Miami Beach (Oct. 16) and Las Vegas’ House of Blues (Oct. 23), before wrapping Oct. 30 at The Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif. Korn will also perform at the Slipknot-curated Knotfest during the run, on Oct. 24 in San Bernardino, Calif.
Korn is also known for the song “Daddy,” a wrenching emotional track that singer Jonathan Davis wrote about being sexually abused by a family friend. Davis broke down while originally recording it and was unaware that Robinson left the tape running while he sobbed. The subsequent audio was left at the end of the song. The band played “Daddy” for the first time in 20 years on March 13 when it performed at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Watch the footage below:
Korn currently comprises Davis, guitarists James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and drummer Ray Luzier, who is the only non-original member of the band. Welch left the group in 2005 after experiencing a spiritual awakening, but returned in 2013. Original drummer David Silveria departed in 2006 for what he called “a hiatus.” He filed a lawsuit in February requesting revenue Korn made since his departure and to be paid damages for breach of contract. He contends that his bandmates rebuffed his efforts to rejoin them in 2013.
The band recently released a remix of Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money.”
The group intends to release a new album in 2016.
