Stars packed Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday (Feb. 24) to fill the massive void left by one of the greatest players to ever grace its court, Kobe Bryant, at a public memorial for him and his daughter Gianna following their untimely deaths in a helicopter crash along with seven other passengers Jan. 26.
Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera each gave meaningful performances during the celebration of life ceremony, and more celebrities from the music and sports worlds convened on social media to shout-out the LA Lakers legend.
Jennifer Lopez and Ciara absolutely nailed their memorial posts to the five-time NBA champion with their special manicures, as J.Lo’s nude nails had Gianna’s #2 jersey number and Kobe’s #24 jersey number inked with gold paint and Ciara’s nails had “Gigi” and “Kobe” named on the insides with gold ink as well.
Maroon 5‘s hit “Memories” was the soundtrack to a memorial video package celebrating Bryant’s 20-year reign as a Lakers shooting guard that played early on in the service, and the LA-based band tweeted the clip along with the message, “Dear Kobe…….”
Questlove asked on Twitter, “So Who watching The Notebook tonight” as a reference to Bryant’s wife Vanessa’s heartfelt speech about one of the NBA star’s thoughtful and very famous Valentine’s Day gifts to her. One year, he gifted her the blue dress and yellow heels Rachel McAdams’ character Allie Hamilton wore in the Nicholas Sparks film, as well as the notebook itself, because “that’s the dress that Allie wore when she went back to Noah,” Vanessa explained in her speech.
