London-based independent music publisher Kobalt Music Group has signed hitmaking songwriter/producer Desmond Child to an exclusive worldwide administration deal. Moreover, Child has agreed to represent Kobalt in an ambassador role facing the songwriter and producer community.
The administration deal covers future works for Child and Deston Songs, the N.Y.-based music publishing firm he co-founded in January 2000 with his longtime manager Winston Simone and former PolyGram Music Publishing president David Simone.
As part of his position as a Kobalt ambassador and spokesman, the Grammy-winning musician will join the company’s senior management team in public appearances.
Kobalt founder and CEO Willard Ahdritz comments, “The new role of being ambassador and a spokesman evolved naturally from his genuine enthusiasm. Therefore we have created this new role for him in an official capacity.”
Over a career spanning thirty-five years, Child has collaborated on hit recordings by such acts as Ricky Martin, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Cher and Kiss.
He is currently producing Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell III” and has recently worked on projects with a string of high-profile clients including Motley Crue, Joss Stone, Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken.
