Kobalt Music Group has reached an exclusive agreement to administer the works of influential Swedish metal band In Flames, and its publishing company.
The worldwide pact with the Gothenburg group’s services company, Whoracle Publishing, covers music publishing administration, and film/TV synchronization services for the group’s future works, plus their latest hit “A Sense of Purpose.”
The bands ninth full-length album, “A Sense of Purpose” (Nuclear Blast/Koch) arrived at No. 7 on Billboard’s European Top 100 Albums chart last month, after bowing at No. 1 in Sweden and No. 6 in Germany and cracking the top 10 in Austria, Finland and Canada.
The act, which is recognized as a pioneer of the Gothenburg sound of Scandinavian melodic death metal, saw their set open at No. 28 on The Billboard 200, its highest charting effort in the United States. In the same week, the recorded started at the top of the Top Independent Albums chart.
The deal, announced this week, was brokered by In Flames’ attorney Sissi Hagald, the band’s business manager Magnus Strömblad and Kobalt exec Johan Ekelund.
