Antony Hegarty, frontman of Mercury Prize winners Antony & the Johnsons, has signed an exclusive administration deal with independent London-based publisher Kobalt Music Group.
The agreement, struck between Kobalt and Hegarty’s Rebis Music, covers the N.Y.-based, Chichester, England-born torch singer’s catalog on a worldwide basis, excluding North America.
In a statement, Kobalt founder and CEO Willard Ahdritz describes the performer as “a unique artist that we have followed and admired for years,” adding “we are confident that his music will be around for generations.”
Kobalt will represent the artist for synchronization deals to include film, TV, advertising and other media.
The act’s critically-acclaimed debut Rough Trade/Secretly Canadian album “I Am a Bird Now” gained mainstream attention after winning Britain’s prestigious Mercury Prize in September. Following its victory, the record broke into the U.K. top 20 and has since shipped gold (100,000 units).
Antony & The Johnsons begin a Europe-wide tour in support of the album Oct. 25 at Barcelona Teatro Musical.
Kobalt’s clients include 8 Mile Style, the Hives, Max Martin, Nine Inch Nails, Sanctuary Music Publishing and Gwen Stefani.
