Adam Klein, the executive tasked with defining EMI’s global digital course, has split with the company.
London-based Klein joined EMI in November 2004 as executive VP of strategy and business development.
During his time with EMI, the company’s digital sales have rocketed. In the fiscal year ending in March 31, EMI’s digital revenue rose 139% to £112.1 million ($211.2 million).
“Adam has done a great job in helping to shape our global digital strategy. Now, given the development of the digital music market in all regions, we are adjusting our internal structure and approach both centrally and at a national and regional level and will make further announcements in due course,” an EMI spokesperson tells Billboard.biz.
EMI is in talks with Klein on retaining him in a consultancy role in which he would continue to liaise with senior management on specific strategic projects, the spokesperson adds.
Prior to joining EMI, Klein served with MTV Networks in New York where he was advisor to the then-chairman/CEO Tom Freston on overall strategy and business development.
Before that, he was president/COO of online search-engine firm Ask Jeeves.
