This week’s spin comes from KITTEN. The power pop-inspired rock outfit are currently in the midst of a mainstream breakthrough, eyeing the release of a new, self-produced EP Pink Champagne out Friday via RED Music, and following a slow and steady rise that included an impressive showing at this year’s SXSW and past dates supporting No Doubt, Paramore and Charli XCX.
The road warriors are currently on a sweeping summer tour, which includes dates supporting Blue October, as well as a headlining set at Lodge Room in Los Angeles (June 11).
Today, the rockers are looking back to their beginnings, with this week’s eclectic #TBT Mixtape, featuring Blondie, The New Pornographers, Justin Timberlake, Soulja Boy and more.
“Here’s a throwback mix that captures the early years of our music fandom. Some of these tracks floated in on school bus radios, some were given to us by our parents, and some were the first things we discovered by ourselves, thus seeming truly our own,” the band shares. “There’s little logic to this playlist beyond that, but hopefully someone out there gets a kick out of seeing MiMS next to Mott the Hoople.”
