Kiss’ four original members are spotlighted on their own discs as part of the compilation “Ikons,” due Oct. 21 via Mercury/UMe.
The four-disc, 56-track “Ikons” pulls songs heavily identified individually with bassist Gene Simmons, guitarists Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, from both the Kiss and solo album catalogs.
Simmons’ disc includes favorites such as “Cold Gin,” “Parasite,” “God of Thunder” and “Rock and Roll All Nite,” while Stanley’s boasts “Detroit Rock City,” “Strutter,” “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” and “Love Gun.”
Frehley is represented by “Shock Me,” “New York Groove” and “Snow Blind,” while Criss is center stage on “Beth,” “Hard Luck Woman” and “Hooligan.”
“Ikons” comes on the heels of the 30th anniversary of the simultaneous release of the four members’ solo albums, and the 25th of the band’s first interview out of makeup.
In related news, Stanley’s recent solo tour is chronicled on the live DVD “One Live Kiss,” due Oct. 21.
