As expected, Kiss and Aerosmith have confirmed the details for their co-headlining tour, which will run from Aug. 2 in Hartford, Conn., to Oct. 18 in Devore, Calif. Modern rock act Saliva will support on all shows. Both bands are offering special ticket presales and other promotions through their official Web sites, KissOnline.com and AeroforceOnes.com.
“Just to be touring with them is cool,” Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry told Billboard.com on Friday. “And then the whole thing about, ‘Well … they’re cartoony,’ and all that. If you have that kind of attitude, then you’re taking your rock’n’roll way too seriously. To me, it’s all about entertainment. I went to see them on this comeback tour and I didn’t sit down the whole time.”
“They’re a f***in’ entity, man,” he continued. “When they come walking down the hall dressed like that, it’s like, ‘Holy sh*t!’ That alone is entertaining.”
Perry says the billing “reminds me of when we grew up in the ’60s, seeing all kinds of bands play [together]. You’d see Richie Havens playing with Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper playing with Jethro Tull. That’s how it was. It wasn’t like one rubbed off on the other — you just got entertained for that hour by whoever was up there.”
Aerosmith will be touring behind its upcoming Columbia blues album, but it is not known if Kiss is preparing any music for release in conjunction with the trek.
