Kis-My-Ft2 takes the No. 1 spot on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100 dated Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 with their latest single, “Akai Kajitsu,” after selling 187,867 CDs in its first week and coming in at No. 1 for physical sales and Twitter mentions.
The seven-member Johnny’s boy band came up short of the top spot for look-ups — the number of times a CD has been ripped to a computer — but this was only because the group’s “senpai” (senior) boy band Arashi has been ruling the metric for four weeks in a row with their latest hit, “Doors (Yuuki No Kiseki).” The former Japan Hot 100 No. 1 single has sold a total of 654,593 CDs since its release.
Aqours, the nine-member group of voice actors who play the main characters in the anime Love Live! Sunshine!!, bows at No. 2 on the Japan Hot 100 this week with “My Mai Tonight,” a track being used in the popular animated series. The single sold 34,865 copies and came in at No. 2 for physical sales, No. 3 for look-ups, and No. 5 for downloads.
The four-member Japanese rock band Alexandros (stylized as [Alexandros]) debuts at No. 3 with their new song, “Ashita, Mata,” faring well in most metrics (No. 2 for radio airplay, No. 4 for look-ups, No. 5 for physical sales, No. 10 for downloads, No. 14 for Twitter, No. 16 for streaming). This week’s most-played song on the radio is singer-songwriter Aiko’s “Yokoku,” which rises to No. 4 on the Japan Hot 100 (No. 5 for look-ups, No. 7 for physical sales).
The top song for downloads is “Seirennaru Heretics,” the theme song of a smartphone role-playing game. The track debuted at No. 6 on this week’s Japan Hot 100, powered solely by download points; for example, it’s at No. 80 for Twitter mentions.
DAOKO x Kenshi Yonezu’s “Uchiage Hanabi” continues its reign over the streaming metric this week, extending its record to 15 weeks at the top.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOK, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, Recochoku provided by Gfk Japan, as well as streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics.
