Bug Music Publishing has signed a new deal with Tennessee rock act Kings Of Leon.
Under the terms of the deal, Bug Music and Kings Of Leon have entered into both a publishing agreement, bringing all four band members exclusively under the Bug Windswept banner, as well as a joint venture agreement that allows the band to pursue ongoing creative projects by signing and developing artists under the Bug Music umbrella.
Previously, Bug Music has administered the publishing of band members Matthew and Jared Followill throughout their career, while Windswept had handled Nathan and Caleb Followill through its joint venture with Combustion Music. Now that the companies are one, Bug Music will manage all future publishing interests for the next several albums of all four band members.
“Kings Of Leon are one of the most popular bands of this generation,” Bug Music CEO John Rudolph said in a statement. “We believe the band is an extraordinary tastemaker. “We welcome their vision in the development of new artists as Bug Music continues to innovate and push the industry’s model of a traditional publishing house.”
Kings Of Leon’s third set, “Only By the Night” (RCA), debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 this month, with sales of 74,000 – the band’s best weekly sales performance to date. The album is the band’s first top 10 on the Billboard 200.
