Kings of Leon will build on their swelling U.K. popularity in 2009 when they return for a pair of arena shows in June.
Promoter Metropolis will deliver the U.S. rock act to the O2 Arena in London on June 15, while SJM Concerts will handle the June 22 Manchester Evening News Arena show.
The band is already set to hit arenas around the U.K. through December, starting at Brighton’s Brighton Centre Dec. 1 and finishing at London’s Wembley Arena Dec. 22. All these dates have already sold out.
The band is touring in support of its latest release, “Only By the Night” (Hand Me Down/Columbia), which debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. late September after shifting 220,000 units, according to the Official Charts Company (Billboard.biz, Sept. 29).
Columbia says the record has now been certified double platinum in the U.K.
The album’s second single “Use Somebody,” which follows the No. 1 “Sex On Fire,” is released in the U.K. Dec. 8.
