Spotify users have likely seen Kim Petras and her lopsided topknot featured prominently in their RISE campaign, created to highlight emerging artists. Kim’s brand of pop sounds like Gwen Stefani recorded Lady Gaga’s breakout The Fame: It’s glossy, it’s fun — it’s bubblegum pop in its purest form.
The German-born singer-songwriter has released her second official music video, for the Lil Aaron-assisted “Faded.” The bouncy video, directed by Nicholas Harwood (Blood Orange, Sophie, Porches), is exactly what we’ve come to expect from this rising star; it’s a celebration of flamboyant colors, quirky fashions (from established and avant-garde designers like Balenciaga, Christian Cowan, Margiela and MaryMe-JimmyPaul) and art direction straight out of a ’90s teen sitcom.
“Faded” follows Petras’ stellar Charli XCX collab “Unlock it,” as well as her debut video for “I Don’t Want It at All,” which starred Paris Hilton.
