In support of its soon-to-be-released third album “Land of Make Believe,” New York alt-rap duo Kidz in the Hall has announced a 20-city “Crowd Control” tour, which kicks off Feb. 27 in Syracuse N.Y. and includes a stop at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Tex. 88-Keys, Izza Kizza and Donnis will open for the group on the road.
“Land of Make Believe,” the Kidz’ third album and follow-up to 2008’s “The In Crowd,” is due Mar. 9 on Duck Down Records, and member/producer Double-O tells Billboard.com that it’s “a little bit of a mix between the first and second albums but more personal.” He adds that no samples were used this time around, giving he and his partner Naledge “more freedom creatively.”
Such freedom aided in what Double-O describes as Kidz in the Hall’s “new sample-less, emotive sound” on “Make Believe’s” first single, “Jukebox.” The track’s music video premiered today on MTV2, and the song is currently at No. 1 on college radio’s Rap Network & Rap Attack charts. Double-O says the next single from “Land of Make Believe” will be “Take Over the World,” which features production by Just Blaze and guest artist Colin Monroe. Additional tracks include “Will I Win,” featuring Marsha Ambrosius, and “Running,” featuring Tim Williams.
